19th C. French Iron Garden Decorative Accent / Fence Panel
19th C. French Iron Garden Decorative Accent / Fence Panel
Lovely 19th century French antique iron garden edging / low fence panel. This type of chain fencing was typically used to line a walkway or separate a small area from the rest of the garden. The chain panels would be hung between two fixed objects such as posts or walls. Each panel features a large center medallion with a cherub / putti / angel face and 4 hanging chains with very large and intricate iron links.
Sold individually, we have 2 total of the same design and size. Each is sold invidually at the price shown. Sizes are indicated by the number of links in the chain and by approximate dimensions as overall width & height are dependent on the angle of the chains when installed.
Dimensions: medallion, 8"W x 12"H; # of links are given clockwise from the upper right of photo: 11 links + 11 links + 13 links & bell shape hardware + 13 links. Stretched out straight, 11 links are approximately 20" long; 13 links are approximately 25" long. Each interlocking link is roughly 3.25"L x 3"H.
Very good antique condition with surface wear from age and previous enjoyment.
Under separate listings, we also have both a single and a pair of 24"H cast iron posts from the same period which would look fabulous with these chain/medallion panels.
