Vintage French Ricard Bistro Pastis Carafes, Pair
Vintage French Ricard Bistro Pastis Carafes, Pair
Pair of traditional wedge shaped, French Bistro carafes sourced at an antique market in Provence. Created of heavy and sturdy glass and graphically appealing, they are great for mixers at the bar, water at bedside, or juice on the table.
The pieces bear Ricard logos, the first commercially produced pastis in France. Founder, Paul Ricard, not only built an empire out of the anise-flavored aperitif, he designed the initial logo himself, stating that it represented the blue of the sky and the yellow of the sun in the south of France When the country outlawed advertising for liquors in 1951; Ricard saw it as an opportunity to market his brand through logos on items used in bars and bistros. Vintage versions, such as these, have become extremely collectible.
